Quotation One

Hartman Rector JR
"Self-esteem is different than conceit. Conceit is the weirdest disease in the world. It makes everyone sick except the one who has it." (Hartman Rector Jr)

This quotation is written exactly as it's suppose to be taken as. It means how Conceit is different than self-esteem and is the weirdest thing on the world. Everyone is sick of conceit and those who have it and are blind to it. It also says how Conceit is sickening, and is bad for people. Some people may not understand this quote, but if you were to meet someone who was stuck up, and showed it a lot. Would you not be tired of it? Those people who are with this trait are oblivious to it and they also draw people away. The source of this quotation as stated above is by a man named Hartman Rector Jr. I found this site surfing the web. Though, I believe, when reading this quote. The speaker is someone who has learned from experience. Such as someone who was conceit and learned from their mistakes when everyone started to leave him or her. The time this quote took place could of been anytime. Though the circumstances could have been like I said, once people started to leave him or her. The significance of the quotation is the message it is giving off as saying how people are sick of stuck up people. They find that self esteem is a good thing and that you cannot mistaken your conceitedness for it. The connection made to the concept I believe is most likely. I think it is possible that someone could have made that quote after loosing friends because of his or her vainess. Just pushing off what they said and mistook his actions as self esteemed. . .
